Jake O'Herron
Bachelor of Fine Arts - Sculpture
I am a Senior at CMU with a passion for the fine arts. After I graduate I would like to create a studio work space so that I may continue to hone my skills as an artist, expand my understanding of what art is, and help others on their own paths as they grow as people and as artists. Creating this studio work space, with the experience gained along the journey, will open a wide variety of life-paths for myself and others that will provide a sustainable lifestyle while also helping others to attain such goals.
This body of work is made as my own response to the many times I have heard of scientists and philosophers who claim that the higher dimensions described in string theory are too complex and convoluted to be displayed visually. This is my attempt to depict the concepts underlying these dimensions. Starting with point, line, plane, and continuing to use the interactions and relationships between these three as references when talking about the fourth, fifth, and sixth dimensions. This is a method known as the point-line-plane postulate, which is represented throughout my work as I continue to use the power of three in each composition.
