Plus size and beauty are not always seen as concurrent. I would know, because I’ve been “plus size” my whole life. I know my own personal struggles going throughout different experiences and not being considered even in the smallest detail. It can hurt, and even be irritating and infuriating, to be made to feel so much more different from everybody and everything else. This is why I choose to focus on those experiences within my work. Drawing plus size women in untraditional poses within various settings, I am able to explore emotions that I and many other bigger women experience and what many people may not even consider influential to us.
